The Capacity Building for Partnerships in Microfinance training manual was edited by Jamie Bedson of The Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC) under the general direction of FDC's Executive Director, Craig Wilson.
Important early contributions to the training materials were provided by Dr. Paul Greener and Ms Ana Santos, both formerly with FDC, now with AusAID and ANZ Bank respectively, as well as Professor Malcolm Harper. Important subsequent contributions were received from Nina Nayar (FDC), Maria Pagura (Food and Agricultural Organization), Ragini Chaudhary (EDA Rural Systems), Frans Purnama and Fransisca Amelia Mulyadi (Global Innovation Consultants).
Peer reviewers who generously gave of their time and expertise in offering valuable criticisms and suggestions to the draft curriculum were Ragini Chaudhary (EDA Rural Systems), Nimal Fernando (Asian Development Bank), Natasa Gorenje (Microfinance Management Institute), Nadia Islam (World Bank), Maria Pagura (FAO) and Fikreth Shuaib (FDC).
Thanks also goes to the members of innumerable MFIs and trainers who reviewed, provided information for or contributed to the short case studies provided. For assistance with case studies special thanks to Chandula Abeywickrema (Hatton National Bank, Sri Lanka), Agnes Chakonta (Madison Insurance, Zambia), Anne Hastings (Fonkoze, Haiti) and Graham Macmillan (Scojo Foundation, USA).
In addition, the material in the training manual has been enriched through several iterations as a result of feedback from participants in pilot training workshops conducted in New Delhi, Colombo and Jakarta over the last year. Members and partners of the BWTP Network have also provided critical support to the conduct of the pilot workshops and enhancement and refinement of the material. In particular, we acknowledge the support of EDA Rural Systems (India), Hatton National Bank (Sri Lanka), Global Innovation Consulting (Indonesia) and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Indonesia).
FDC and the BWTP Network would especially like to thank our funding partner, the Citi Foundation, who gave a generous grant to support the preparation of these resources. FDC and the BWTP Network would also like to acknowledge the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for its financial support and intellectual contributions to an early version of this training manual. The initial draft was used for the first pilot workshop held in New Delhi in December 2006, which drew on elements of the ODI/IBLF Partnership Broker's Accreditation Scheme.
